⚔️ Warfare Has Changed – Has Our Strategy Caught Up?

From trench warfare in World War I to the drone strikes in Ukraine and Gaza today—warfare has undergone a radical transformation.

According to defense experts, the tipping point wasn't WWII or the Cold War, but Operation Desert Storm and 9/11. These events marked the birth of modern warfare, shifting battles from physical terrains to multi-domain, tech-driven ecosystems.

Here's how war has evolved:
🔹 Automation & Drones: Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are now frontline assets. From Operation Sundarban to Russia-Ukraine, drones are everywhere.
🔹 Cyber & AI Warfare: Wars now target power grids, satellites, and networks. The battlefield is as much digital as physical.
🔹 Theatre-Based Combat: Integration of Army, Navy & Air Force into a single command system for faster, smarter strikes.
🔹 Hypersonic Weapons: With advancements like BrahMos and Akash Prime, high-speed precision attacks are rewriting defense strategies.

The big takeaway?
India's defense procurement, modernization plans, and indigenous manufacturing must pivot towards this post-9/11 reality. While countries like China invest in sixth-gen fighter jets and UAVs, India must accelerate innovation and reduce import dependence.

The nature of war has changed. If our policies don’t evolve with it, we risk falling behind in both defense readiness and strategic autonomy.
