🔹 Reviving History: Machilipatnam Port Set to Sail Again!
An ancient maritime hub on India's eastern coast, Machilipatnam (formerly known as Masulipatnam), is all set to reclaim its historical legacy. Situated at the mouth of the Krishna River, this port has been referenced in records from as early as the 1st century AD and played a key role in trade across Southeast Asia for centuries.
After being dormant for nearly 200 years, the port is finally being revived. While initial redevelopment attempts in 2007 faced setbacks due to corporate controversies, a fresh blueprint was rolled out in 2020. A Special Purpose Vehicle was formed and the project was handed over to a reputed EPC firm — Mega Engineering & Infrastructure Ltd.
Now, construction is in full swing and the port is expected to become operational by 2026.
This revival is not just about reactivating trade routes — it represents the reawakening of coastal infrastructure, regional development, and the preservation of India’s maritime heritage. 🌊⚓
