🔧 India Charts a Strategic Vision for Aluminium & Copper Industries 🔧
As India marches towards the goal of becoming a Viksit Bharat by 2047, the Government of India has unveiled two forward-looking initiatives — the Aluminium Vision Document and Copper Vision Document — to future-proof the country’s resource readiness.
🔹 Why it matters:
Aluminium and copper are not just industrial metals — they are the lifeblood of modern economies. From aerospace, defense, and construction to electric vehicles, solar energy, and electronics — these metals will power India's green and digital future.
🔹 Key Highlights:
🇮🇳 India is currently the 2nd largest aluminium producer globally but holds only 6% of the global share.
A 6X increase in aluminium production is targeted by 2047.
Domestic demand for copper is expected to grow sixfold as well.
The strategy includes a three-pronged approach:
Sustainable mining practices 🌱
Scalable and green processing technologies 🔄
Circular economy via enhanced recycling ♻️
🔹 What’s next:
India will need to:
Secure domestic and international mining assets 🗺️
Build self-reliance in critical mineral supply chains
Attract investment in clean tech-based extraction and processing
These vision documents are not just roadmaps — they are blueprints for transforming India's mineral sector into a strategic pillar of its economic ambitions.
